School for the Deaf-Mutes
In order to cater to the educational needs of children with Hearing Impairment, The School for the Deaf-Mutes started on the 1st of March, 1908. It was the first department, and today has a student strength of more than 300 students, ranging from standard 1 to standard 12.
Std. 1 to 8 >>Primary School
Std. 9 and 10 >> Secondary School
Std. 11 and 12 >> Higher Secondary School
Government approved syllabus is imparted to the students here, and hearing aids are provided to them as well. Their auditory needs are taken care of along with training them in Sign Language. Computer training is also given to the students and teachers make use of technological appliances like computers for simplifying the process of learning for the students. Students are also encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities, and thus art and craft activities and sports are widely used mediums in this department.
