Training College for the Teachers of the Deaf
The Training College for the Teachers of the Deaf was established in the year 1962. This college offers a degree in DED(HI) and the exams are conducted by AYJNIHH, Mumbai and the exam board of NBER is followed here. This course is a recognised by the Rehabilitation of Council of India. The aim of this department is to educate and train Special Educators in the field of Hearing Impairment, thus enabling them to teach students with Hearing Impairment better and in a much more effective manner. This is a two year course and includes four semesters in all. The medium of instruction is Gujarati and each batch constitutes of 20 students. Language, Speech, Audiology, Skill development, Sign Language and Sign System, Auditory Training and Psychology practicals are the various components of this course. Various workshops and seminars pertaining to training of teachers are conducted by this department as well. The Co-ordinator of the department is Mrs. Jagruti Joshi.
